Best Time to Trek- 3 Days short Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

The ideal time to hike to Poon Hill is during spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to early December). These seasons offer clear skies, moderate temperatures, and stable weather.

In spring, the trail lights up with blooming rhododendrons. The forest becomes a canvas of red, pink, and white flowers. Meanwhile, autumn delivers crisp air and amazing visibility.

These months are best for photography, mountain views, and a smooth trek. On the other hand, the monsoon season brings heavy rain, while winter can get too cold.

If you’re looking for the best experience, plan your trek during spring or autumn. You’ll witness both nature’s beauty and Nepal’s mountain majesty in full form.

Essential Trek Preparation Tips

Although this is a short trek, some preparation is essential. Start with light cardio or daily walks to build stamina. Comfortable footwear and breathable clothing are a must.

Before you go, pack essentials like a light backpack, snacks, water purification tablets, and sunscreen. In colder months, don’t forget a down jacket and sleeping bag.

You’ll also need to obtain the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) before starting. It’s wise to research the route, local customs, and weather conditions in advance.

Hiring a local guide helps, too. They offer safety, cultural insights, and navigation support. Most importantly, go with a positive mindset and enjoy each moment of the trail.

Where It Starts and Ends

The 3-day trek begins at Tikhedhunga, after a scenic drive from Pokhara or Kathmandu. It covers key locations such as Birethanti, Ulleri, Banthanti, and finally Ghorepani.

After reaching Poon Hill, the trail loops back via a different path. This makes it feel like a mini version of the Annapurna Circuit.

Along the way, you’ll cross suspension bridges, streams, and terraced fields. The return path leads back to Tikhedhunga or Hille, where a jeep takes you to Pokhara.

The whole loop offers variety in landscapes and scenery within a short time.

Poon Hill Sunrise – Himalayan Magic in 3 Days

The sunrise from Poon Hill is the highlight of this trek. After an early start, you’ll reach the viewpoint in 45 minutes from Ghorepani.

As the sun rises, golden light spills over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. More than 20 peaks, including Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri, appear like a dream.

For this experience, pack warm layers, snacks, and a camera. While there’s no separate ticket, your trekking permits cover the area.
