Option I: Trek from Pokhara

If you’re already in Pokhara, we’ll meet you a day before the trek. The next morning, our local guide will pick you up from your hotel, and we’ll start our journey with a short drive to Nayapul. We’ll trek to Tikhedung on the first day and Ghorepani on the second day, enjoying stunning views.

Option II: Trek from Kathmandu

For those starting from Kathmandu, we’ll meet you at your hotel or our office for a pre-tour orientation. The following morning, you’ll fly to Pokhara, where our guides will welcome you. After a private transfer to Nayapul, the trek begins, leading you to Tikhedung(1,560m) on the first day and Ghorepani(2820m) on the second day.

If you have more than 3 days, you can take a tourist bus from Kathmandu to Pokhara (with a free ticket) and align with our trek days, saving on an extra flight cost.

Meeting Your Guide:

If you’re in Pokhara, let us know your location a day in advance for a pre-meeting. For Kathmandu participants, the pre-meeting will happen at your hotel or our office. It’s a great chance to talk face-to-face about any trek-related questions.

Outline Itinerary of 3 Days Ghorepani Poon hill Trek

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, then trek to Tikhedung/Ulleri (altitude: varies, starting around 1070 meters / 3510 feet in Nayapul).

Day 2: Trek from Tikhedung to Ghorepani (altitude: about 2874 meters / 9429 feet), approximately 5-6 hours walk.

Day 3: Hike to Poon Hill (altitude: 3210 meters / 10531 feet) for 45 minutes, then trek to Thikhedunga, Hille (altitude: approximately 1495 meters / 4905 feet) for a 5-hour walk. Return to Pokhara by jeep.

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, then trek to Tikhedung/Ulleri (1070 meters / 3510 feet in Nayapul).

Day 1 of the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek begins with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Nayapul. The trek starts at Nayapul, leading through the picturesque valley alongside the Modi River. After a brief stop at Birethanti for an ACAP permit check, the trail continues through local villages, bumpy roads, and agricultural lands.

Around two hours into the trek, a lunch break awaits at Ramghai, followed by a gradual uphill climb to Hille and Thikhedunga. Thikhedunga is a beautiful Gurung village nestled at the base of a hill, offering natural views and cultural insights. Night accommodation is in tea houses, providing a restful start to the trek.

Day 2: Trek from Tikhedung to Ghorepani (2874 meters / 9429 feet), approximately 5-6 hours walk.

On the second day of our trek, we started our journey after having breakfast in Tikhedunga. The trail began with stone steps, and for the first 5-10 minutes, we followed these steps. After that, we crossed two suspension bridges over a small stream. The path then became steep as we headed up to Ulleri, which took about 2 hours from Tikhedunga.

Ulleri is a large Poon Magar village situated at an altitude of 1900 meters. From there, we could already enjoy stunning views of snow-capped mountains. Continuing our trek, we walked on stone steps for the next 45 minutes until we reached Banthati at 2200 meters. Many trekkers chose to stop here for lunch because of its peaceful atmosphere and lovely scenic views.

After leaving Banthati, the trail led us into a forest of rhododendron. About 1.5 hours later, we reached Nangethati, where we took a break for lunch. Following another 1.5 hours of walking, we finally arrived at Ghorepani Village, where we spent the night. Ghorepani is known for its tea house hotels and offers breathtaking views of several snow-capped mountains. It was a fulfilling day of trekking with diverse landscapes and charming villages along the way.

Day 3: Hike to Poon Hill (3210 meters / 10531 feet) for 45 minutes, then trek to Thikhedunga, Hille (1495 meters / 4905 feet) for a 5-hour walk. Return to Pokhara by jeep.

Start your day early on day 3 with a hike to Poon Hill for a beautiful sunrise. Watch the mountains change colors as the sun comes up. After that, go back to your hotel, have a good breakfast, and pack your things. Then, walk back down to Thikhedunga Hille for about 5 hours. Enjoy the views and take your time. Finally, hop on a jeep for a 2-hour ride back to Pokhara. When you reach Pokhara, think about the amazing sunrise and the nice trek you had in the Annapurna region.
