About this Trip:

The Langtang Valley Trek is one of the most popular trekking tours in Nepal. You are presented with sublime mountain views and an impressive scenic landscape that will capture our amazement. Throughout this valley there are a staggering 1000 plants, more than 150 different species of birds to observe as well as numerous exotic animals. This trek is easy to accomplish; even a trekking beginner will enjoy it and succeed.

The Langtang Valley is located in the North of Kathmandu. The entire valley, an area of 1710 sqm. was declared as the first Himalayan national park. This valley inhabits only a few villagers. Even such a popular trek it is a road less travelled. Therefore, you can be sure you won’t be meet lots of other travelers. Peacefully you can enjoy nature with some beautiful and historic settlements. It is said about this remote valley, that it was discovered only by accident when a Nepali was looking for his lost yak. Aptly it was named after this incident: Langtang, which in Tibetan breaks down into Lang, meaning yak and tang meaning follow.

As one of the gems in the Himalayan, Langtang impresses with its landscapes, its pleasant climate, the traditional lifestyle and easy trails which are suitable for any age and skill.
In the following I give you just a short listing of all the spectacular mountains you can see from the Langtang Valley:

  • Langtang Lirung (7,200 m),
  • Ganesh Himal (7,600 m)
  • Langtang-II (7,227 m)

As you can see, all those mountains have an astonishing altitude of more than 7000 m.

However, once on this trek, the snow-capped Himalayan ranges are not falling short either. Some of those mountains are:

  • Tserko Ri (5033 m)
  • Kyanjin RI, Ganchhenpo (6388 m)
  • Dorje Lakpa (6990 m) and
  • Laure Binayak pass (4,609 m).

If you think, that is all the Langtang Valley has to offer; you are mistaken. From here you can see the unique rice terraces as well as historical monasteries all along the way. However, it is the year-over snow capped mountains, which make this trek so outstanding. The Langtang Valley is also known as the “Valley of Glaciers.”

Throughout the Langtang Valley Trek, we will introduce you to all our cultural and native diversity. Just to mention a few, here you see Rhododendron, Bamboo mixed with Pine Forests. Mountain streams are gushing down from the rugged, rocky and snow-capped mountain tops. At the valley bottom, you can enjoy the green meadows and daisies. To round it all up this piece of magnificent nature also invites you to the majestic waterfalls rushing down over gigantic boulders as well as calming hot springs.

We will also show you the Gosaikunda. A holy lake in this eye-catching scenery, which is of great and holy importance to the Hindus and Buddhists alike.

Langtang shows typical Sherpa villages and ethnic Tamang Villages. This will give you an insight of the cultural diversity of this area. The Langtang National Park is the second largest national park in Nepal. Flora and fauna are protected throughout the valley. It is also in this region, where you can spot the national bird of Nepal – the Danphe (Pheasant).
