Day 1: Kathmandu to Chame (820m/2,690ft – 2,670m/8,760ft)

Today, our adventure commences with a bus journey from Kathmandu to Besisahar, a picturesque drive spanning approximately 5 hours. From there, we transition to a local jeep for the onward journey to Chame, which adds another 4 hours to our travel time. Despite the lengthy drive, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking views along the Marsyangdi River, traversing valleys, farmlands, and charming villages like Bahundanda and Bulbule. Upon arrival in Chame, we settle in for the night, allowing ample time for rest and trek preparation, gearing up for the exciting trails that lie ahead.

Day 2: Chame to Pisang (3,200m/10,500ft)

On the second day of our short Annapurna Circuit Trek, we set out from Chame, ready for a day of hiking. Our path takes us through thick forests, ascending quickly above the Marsyangdi river. Along the way, we’re treated to stunning views of the valley below. As we continue, the trail cuts into steep rock faces, leading us to a spectacular sight: Paungda Danda, a mountain with a flat top resembling the Great Wall of Pisang. Standing nearly 5,000 meters tall, it looms over us as we approach Pisang. Divided into Lower and Upper Pisang, we’ll choose a cozy lodge between them to enjoy a hearty meal and rest for the night amidst the Annapurna mountains.

Day 3: Pisang to Manang (3,540m/11,614ft)

On the third day of our trek, we wake up early to enjoy the fresh morning views. After having some Tibetan bread and butter tea for breakfast, we prepare to embark on our hike towards Manang. Our guide leads us through the chosen route, opting for the path that connects Upper Pisang and Manang via the charming hamlet of Ghyaru or Geru.

Ghyaru is a picturesque Himalayan village characterized by stone-built houses, hospitable locals, and breathtaking mountain vistas. We take a break here for lunch, savoring the unbelievable panoramas of the Annapurna massif, Gangapurna, and Pisang Peak.

Continuing our journey, we begin to notice a shift in the landscape and vegetation, signaling our entry into true mountain terrain where trees become sparse. As we approach Manang, we encounter the community of Braga, a uniquely photogenic village nestled tightly against the mountainside. We take the opportunity to explore its monastery, renowned for housing numerous statues of the Buddha.

Afterward, we make the final push to reach Manang, where we’ll spend the night at the best available teahouse. Our accommodation for the night will be in a trekking lodge or tea hous

Day 4: Acclimatization in Manang

Acclimatization in Manang is crucial due to the high altitude, and it’s highly recommended to spend an extra night there to allow your body to adjust properly. Otherwise, there’s a risk of altitude sickness. By spending an additional night and getting a bit higher than your teahouse, you give your body more time to adapt to the thin air.

During this extra day, it’s beneficial to walk around a bit but then return to your hotel. This activity helps your body adjust and reduces the risk of altitude-related issues such as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). Even if you’re exceptionally fit physically and mentally, it’s still wise to take this precaution.

For those who are trekking and not particularly accustomed to high altitudes, it’s essential to heed this advice and spend the extra night in Manang. It allows you to enjoy the day, explore the surroundings, and most importantly, ensure your safety and well-being for the rest of the trek.

Day 5: Manang to Thorong Phedi (4,450m/14,600ft)

After a hearty breakfast in Manang, we’re off on another adventure! Our guide and porter will lead the way as we embark on the classic route toward Ledar and Thorong Phedi. Today’s journey will take us roughly 6-7 hours. We have two options for where to stay overnight, but since our itinerary spans 6 days, we suggest making Thorong Phedi our stop for today. This way, tomorrow’s hike to Muktinath via Thorong Top will be shorter.

As we trek, we’ll encounter thrilling suspension bridges over icy rivers and marvel at the majestic mountains veiled in snow. While some treks take two days to reach Thorong Phedi, our speedy plan will get us there in one day. However, we’ll take it slow and steady to ensure everyone’s safety. Our path will lead us upwards to the scenic alpine meadows of Yak Kharka. Your guide from Alpine Ramble Treks will keep a close eye on everyone to minimize the risk of altitude sickness.

After a well-deserved lunch break at Yak Kharka, we’ll cross another suspension bridge and begin our descent to Thorong Phedi. Once we check into our lodge, the evening is yours to enjoy. Treat yourself to some tasty treats from the local café and soak in the breathtaking sunset views of Tilicho Peak and the Annapurnas.

Day 6: Thorong Phedi to  Muktinath( 3,762 m (12,343 ft)

Today is one of the most exciting days of the short Annapurna Circuit trek as we set out from Thorong Phedi towards Muktinath, situated at an altitude of 3,762 meters (12,343 feet). Our primary goal for the day is to conquer Thorong La Pass, renowned for its panoramic views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. After reaching the summit, we take a well-deserved break, indulging in some pack food and snacks while marveling at the breathtaking scenery surrounding us. Following this exhilarating experience, we begin our descent towards Muktinath temple, immersing ourselves in the spiritual ambiance of this revered site.

Upon arrival in Muktinath, we are faced with a decision on how to proceed to Pokhara. One option is to embark on a long but direct jeep ride from Muktinath to Pokhara, thereby concluding our trekking journey on the same day. Alternatively, if we prefer a shorter trekking day, we can opt to spend the night in Muktinath, celebrating our accomplishments with fellow team members. The following morning, we have two choices for reaching Pokhara: either trek back to Jomsom, approximately a three-hour journey, followed by a brief 18-minute flight to Pokhara, or take a direct drive from Muktinath to Pokhara.

Regardless of the route chosen, the conclusion of today’s trek marks the end of our unforgettable six-day adventure on the Annapurna Circuit. As we gather to celebrate our achievements and bid farewell to the mountains, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible experiences and memories shared throughout the journey.
