Our carefully designed 13-Day Manaslu Larke Pass Trekking itinerary is ideal for trekkers seeking a balanced adventure with proper acclimatization, comfortable trekking days, and a truly immersive Himalayan experience. Compared to more crowded trekking regions in Nepal, the Manaslu Larke Pass Trekking route remains peaceful and naturally preserved, making it one of the best choices for travelers looking for an authentic trekking experience in the Himalayas.

Your journey begins the moment you arrive in Nepal at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu. Our professional team will welcome you warmly and provide a comfortable airport pickup service, ensuring your travel starts smoothly. From the time you land in Kathmandu until you complete the trek and return, we manage every part of your journey, including transportation, permits, accommodation, experienced guides, and porter support. This full-service experience allows you to focus completely on enjoying the adventure of The Manaslu Larke Pass Trekking without worrying about logistics. Before the trek begins, travelers often enjoy exploring the cultural highlights of Kathmandu, such as Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath Stupa, which offer a beautiful introduction to Nepal’s spiritual heritage and ancient traditions.

The adventure continues with a scenic drive from Kathmandu toward Soti Khola, the starting point of the trek. This journey follows the Trishuli and Budhi Gandaki river valleys, passing terraced hillsides, local villages, waterfalls, and green landscapes that showcase the beauty of rural Nepal. Once the trekking trail begins, the path follows the Budhi Gandaki River through deep gorges, suspension bridges, and forested hillsides, gradually leading trekkers into the protected landscapes of the Manaslu Conservation Area. The lower part of the trail passes through welcoming mountain villages such as Machha Khola and Jagat, where travelers begin to experience the peaceful rhythm of Himalayan village life.

As the Manaslu Larke Pass Trekking route continues deeper into the valley, the scenery changes dramatically. The trail climbs through beautiful villages, including Deng, Namrung, and the stunning alpine settlement of Samagaon. Here, the culture becomes strongly influenced by Tibetan Buddhism, and trekkers can see prayer flags, mani stones, chortens, and ancient monasteries along the trail. Samagaon is one of the most beautiful villages on the Manaslu Circuit Trek, located close to Mount Manaslu and surrounded by breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. This village provides an important acclimatization stop where trekkers can enjoy spectacular mountain views while preparing for the higher altitude sections of the journey.

Continuing further along the Manaslu Larke Pass Trek trail, the route leads to the high mountain settlements of Samdo and Dharamsala, which is the final stop before crossing the legendary Larke Pass. The crossing of the Larke Pass is the most exciting and rewarding moment of the entire trek. Standing at the top of the pass, trekkers are surrounded by incredible panoramic views of snow-covered Himalayan giants, including Himlung Himal, Cheo Himal, Kang Guru, and Annapurna II. Reaching this high point during the 13 Day Manaslu Larke Pass Trekking adventure is an unforgettable achievement and one of the most memorable moments in the Himalayas.

After crossing the pass, the trail descends to the beautiful alpine valley of Bimthang, a peaceful location surrounded by glaciers, pine forests, and dramatic mountain views. The trek then continues through scenic landscapes until reaching Dharapani, where the Manaslu route connects with the famous Annapurna Circuit trekking trail. From here, some trekkers choose to extend their adventure and continue exploring the Annapurna region, adding even more Himalayan highlights to their journey.

The Manaslu Larke Pass Trekking experience can also be customized with exciting extensions. Before crossing the Larke Pass, travelers may explore the hidden Himalayan culture of Tsum Valley, a sacred valley known for its ancient monasteries and unique Tibetan Buddhist traditions. After completing the trek, many visitors choose to relax in the beautiful lakeside city of Pokhara, famous for its peaceful atmosphere and stunning mountain reflections on Phewa Lake. Another popular extension is visiting Chitwan National Park for the Elephant Jungle Safari Tour (2 N/3D), where travelers can experience an exciting jungle safari and see wildlife such as rhinos, deer, and crocodiles.

Why We Designed the Manaslu Circuit Trek for 13 Days?

The Manaslu Circuit Trek has been designed as a 13-day itinerary by We (Safe Holiday Adventure Pvt. Ltd.) for several carefully considered reasons, all aimed at maximizing safety, cultural experience, and enjoyment while trekking in a high-altitude environment. Here’s a detailed breakdown:

1. Altitude Acclimatization

  • The Manaslu Circuit reaches high altitudes, with the Larkya La Pass at 5,160 meters (16,930 ft).
  • A 13-day schedule allows trekkers to ascend gradually, minimizing the risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS).
  • Extra days for acclimatization and short hikes at intermediate altitudes ensure the body adapts to thinner air safely.

2. Comfortable Pacing

  • The trek involves long days of walking over varied terrain—from lush forests and terraced fields to alpine meadows and rocky passes.
  • By spreading the journey over 13 days, trekkers avoid exhaustion and can enjoy the scenery without feeling rushed.

3. Cultural Immersion

  • The route passes through remote Manaslu villages inhabited by Tibetan-influenced communities.
  • The itinerary provides time for cultural interaction, visiting monasteries, local homes, and traditional villages, rather than just trekking through.

4. Scenic Enjoyment

  • Manaslu Circuit is known for its breathtaking views of Manaslu (8,163 m), Annapurna ranges, and diverse landscapes.
  • A 13-day trek allows for photography, rest stops, and side excursions, ensuring the scenery isn’t missed in a hurry.

5. Weather Flexibility

  • Mountain weather can be unpredictable. A slightly longer itinerary provides buffer days for delays due to rain, snow, or landslides, ensuring a safe and complete trek.

6. Physical Preparedness

  • Some days involve challenging ascents and descents, particularly around Larkya La Pass.
  • Adequate rest days built into a 13-day plan help muscles recover, reducing the risk of injuries.

7. End-to-End Experience

  • The Manaslu Circuit is one of Nepal’s longer trekking loops. A shorter schedule might force trekkers to skip sections or move too quickly.
  • Thirteen days allow a full loop experience, covering villages, rivers, forests, high passes, and lowland exits without compromise.

In short, the 13-day design balances safety, acclimatization, cultural experience, scenic enjoyment, and physical comfort, making it ideal for both first-time high-altitude trekkers and experienced hikers.

Manaslu Circuit with Safe Holiday Adventure in Dec-Jan’26

Our experience with Rupesh and MaMa was very positive. From the first day when he picked us up from the hotel, we knew we were in good hands and we had a shot to complete what we now learned was a very challenging itenary of completing the circuit in 9 days instead of the usual 14 days also in challenging winter conditions. Not only was the overall trip well organized and very enjoyable but also in the difficult moments including ascending to Larke La pass I could not have asked for more support. I can simply say that without the team support we would not have been able to achieve it and their overall focus on safety was also greatly appreciated. This is definitely a once in a lifetime experience that I will remember for the rest of my life and I definitely have them to thank for making it possible. Thank you to the team and would greatly encourage others to do so as well.

Best time to do the Manaslu Circuit Larke Pass Trek:

The best time to trek the Manaslu Circuit Trek and cross Larkya La Pass is late September to November. During this autumn season, the weather is stable, skies are clear, and trails are dry, offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks. A secondary option is March to May, when temperatures rise and rhododendron blooms color the valleys, though some snow may remain on higher passes. Trekking in winter is extremely cold and risky, while the monsoon season brings heavy rain, landslides, and slippery trails, making it unsafe.

Transportation Options for Manaslu Larke Pass Trekking

The starting point of the Manaslu trek is usually either Arughat, Soti Khola, or Machhi Khola. Options include hiring a private jeep from Kathmandu or Pokhara (7–8 hours, $150–200), taking a local bus to Gorkha and then onward (8–9 hours, $10–15), or using a shared jeep from Kathmandu (7–8 hours, $15–20). Travel time and costs vary with season and weather. Consulting a trekking agency ensures the most up-to-date information.

When trekking the Manaslu Circuit Trek, you’ll enjoy simple but hearty meals at local teahouses. Most days start with porridge, eggs, or toast, giving you energy for the trek ahead. Lunch and dinner usually feature dal bhat (rice with lentils, vegetables, and sometimes meat), momos (steamed or fried dumplings), thukpa (Tibetan noodle soup), or chapati (flatbread). Snacks like nuts, biscuits, and chocolate are easy to find along the trail. Warm drinks such as tea, coffee, or hot lemon keep you refreshed. How Tough is the Larke Pass Trek?

The Larke Pass Trek is challenging, suitable for experienced trekkers with good fitness. It involves long daily walks, steep ascents, and crossing the Larke Pass at 5,160 meters. Trekkers must prepare for variable weather, snow, and altitude-related conditions. Careful planning, proper acclimatization, and trekking with guides make the journey achievable, rewarding, and unforgettable, with panoramic Himalayan views and cultural highlights throughout.

Manaslu Larke Pass Trek: Short vs. Full Route

Trekking in the Manaslu region offers a short Larke Pass trek or the full Manaslu Circuit. The short route (12–14 days) focuses on high passes, remote villages, and viewpoints. The full circuit (16–20 days) includes a more complete cultural and scenic experience, passing through Jagat, Samagaun, and Lho. Trekkers choose based on time, fitness, and preference for extended immersion in the region’s natural beauty and Tibetan-influenced culture.

Manaslu Circuit Trek Permits Guide

1. Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP)

This permit is required for all trekkers. It must be obtained through a registered Nepali trekking agency—solo applications are not allowed. A licensed guide and a minimum of two trekkers are mandatory. Costs range from $100–$125 for the first 7 days (peak season), with an additional ~$15 per extra day.

2. Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP)
Covers the majority of the trek within the Manaslu Conservation Area. The fee for foreign trekkers is approximately $25.

3. Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)
Required if your trek exits through Dharapani into the Annapurna region. Costs are similar to the MCAP, around $25 for foreign trekkers.

Quick Tips

  • Carry original permits and copies; checkpoints check them along the trail.
  • Independent trekking is not allowed—agency and guide are mandatory.
  • Apply for permits a few days in advance in Kathmandu or Pokhara.

Bottom line: Trekking the Manaslu Circuit is not just about scenic mountains—it’s about following rules, having the proper permits, and trekking safely with a licensed guide.

Your Daily Guide to the Larke Pass Trek

A typical Larke Pass itinerary spans 12–14 days, beginning from Soti Khola or Arughat and ending at Manaslu Base Camp or Besisahar. Trekkers pass through forests, terraced fields, remote villages, and high passes, trekking 5–8 hours daily. Each day includes meals, accommodation in tea houses, and acclimatization. Guides provide local insights, manage logistics, and ensure safety, creating a structured and immersive trekking experience.

Internet, Mobile, and Electricity in the Manaslu Trek

1. Mobile Connectivity

The Manaslu region, located in north-central Nepal, is remote but gradually becoming more connected. The two main providers are Nepal Telecom (NTC) and Ncell.

  • Lower Villages (Soti Khola, Machha Khola, Jagat): Both NTC and Ncell have good coverage. Mobile calls and data (3G/4G) are generally reliable.
  • Mid-altitude Villages (Deng, Namrung, Samagaun): Coverage weakens, mostly 2G or occasional 3G. Calls may drop, and data is slow.
  • High-altitude Villages (Samdo, Dharmasala, Base Camp areas): Very limited or no mobile coverage. Trekkers usually rely on satellite phones or guide-provided emergency communication.

Tip: Nepal Telecom SIM cards tend to work slightly better in the higher-altitude villages.

What gear should I pack for Manaslu Trek?

  • Clothing: thermal tops and bottoms, fleece jacket, down jacket, waterproof jacket and pants, trekking pants and shorts, t-shirts, socks and underwear, gloves, hat, beanie, buff or scarf.
  • Footwear: trekking boots, sandals or camp shoes, gaiters (optional).
  • Gear: backpack, daypack, trekking poles, sleeping bag and liner, water bottles or hydration system, water purifier, headlamp with extra batteries.
  • Essentials: sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, toiletries, quick-dry towel, snacks, camera or phone, power bank, first aid kit, trekking permits, and ID.

Must-Visit Monasteries in Lho and Sama Gaun

Monasteries in Lho and Sama Gaun feature traditional architecture, prayer wheels, and murals. Trekkers can observe rituals, interact with monks, and experience meditation practices. Visiting these monasteries provides cultural insight and serves as a calming break during high-altitude trekking, with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

How to Beat Altitude Sickness on the Larke Pass

Altitude sickness can occur above 3,500 meters. Preventive measures include gradual ascent, hydration, high-carb meals, and rest. Trekkers should listen to their bodies, avoid overexertion, and recognize early symptoms like headache or nausea. Acclimatization days at Namrung or Samdo help the body adjust, ensuring safer trekking at high altitude.

Acclimatization Tricks Every Trekker Should Know

Gradual ascent, alternating trekking and rest days, and climbing high while sleeping low help acclimatization. Hydration, light meals, and avoiding alcohol or smoking aid adjustment. Extra days at Samdo or Lho allow safe adaptation before the Larke Pass. Guides can recommend schedules to minimize health risks and optimize trekking performance.
