The 12-Day Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek begins in Kathmandu, the vibrant capital of Nepal. Upon arrival, you stay in a high-standard hotel with modern facilities and comfortable rooms. The next morning, a 30-minute scenic flight takes you to Lukla (2,860 m), where you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of hills, rivers, and Himalayan peaks. The trek starts from Lukla, passing Sherpa villages, stone walls, and lush forest trails. You’ll see yaks carrying loads and prayer flags fluttering in the wind. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, leading through Chheplung and Ghat villages before arriving at Phakding (2,610 m). This gentle walk helps you acclimate to the altitude. At night, relax in a luxury lodge with a private room, organic meals, and the sound of the river nearby.
On day two, the trail leads from Phakding to Namche Bazaar, the bustling Sherpa capital. You cross many suspension bridges, walk beside waterfalls, and pass through rhododendron forests. After entering Monjo village, you check permits at the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. The climb gets steeper after crossing the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge, decorated with prayer flags. As you ascend, you get the first glimpse of Mount Everest (8,848 m) along with Thamserku (6,608 m) and Kusum Kangaru (6,367 m). Reaching Namche Bazaar (3,440 m), you check into a luxury lodge featuring heated blankets, attached bathrooms, and delicious meals like Sherpa stew, yak cheese pizza, and fresh coffee. You spend an extra night here to acclimate properly.
After resting in Namche, you trek to Tengboche (3,867 m) following a broad mountain trail with jaw-dropping views of Everest, Lhotse (8,516 m), and the iconic Ama Dablam (6,812 m). Keep an eye out for wildlife like blue sheep or musk deer hiding in the bushes. The trail descends to Phunki Tenga, where you cross a wooden bridge and climb steeply through rhododendron forests. At Tengboche, visit the famous Tengboche Monastery, where you might hear monks chanting. Yaks graze in open meadows, and the thin mountain air makes walking slower. In the luxury lodge, enjoy a warm dining room, apple pie, herbal tea, and a cozy bed for the night.
Leaving Tengboche, the trail leads through alpine forests and charming Sherpa villages toward Dingboche (4,410 m). You pass Debuche, cross a thrilling suspension bridge over the Imja River, and walk through Pangboche, offering jaw-dropping views of Ama Dablam. The landscape becomes dry and wide, and yaks graze freely across the open terrain. At Dingboche, the air gets thinner, and you might experience mild altitude symptoms like headaches or fatigue. Your guide will check your oxygen level and recommend garlic soup and slow walking. The luxury lodge offers insulated rooms, a sunroom with mountain views, and nourishing meals like pasta, Tibetan bread, and boiled vegetables. You spend an extra day here for proper acclimatization.
From Dingboche, the trail climbs to Thukla, then ascends steeply to Thukla Pass (4,830 m). This sacred ridge holds memorials for fallen climbers, surrounded by whistling wind and majestic peaks. The path continues to Lobuche (4,940 m), following the edge of the Khumbu Glacier. As you climb higher, altitude effects like shortness of breath, loss of appetite, and cold air become more noticeable. However, your experienced guide ensures your safety and comfort. The views of Nuptse (7,861 m), Pumori (7,161 m), and Lingtren (6,749 m) are unforgettable. In Lobuche, your luxury lodge provides thick blankets, hot drinks, and heated dining. After a long day, you rest in a soft bed and enjoy warm meals like noodle soup and mashed potatoes.
The most exciting day begins as you trek from Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,164 m), the last stop before Everest Base Camp (5,364 m). The rocky trail along the Khumbu Glacier reveals icefalls and snowy ridges. After lunch in Gorakshep, you hike to Everest Base Camp, a place of dreams. Though Everest’s summit is not visible, the atmosphere, colorful prayer flags, and climbers’ tents make it magical. The trail is icy and uneven, but reaching base camp brings a deep sense of achievement. You take photos, breathe in the moment, then return to Gorakshep for the night. The simple lodge serves garlic soup, fried rice, and hot tea to help you warm up and recover.
Early the next morning, you climb to Kala Patthar (5,545 m), the best viewpoint for Mount Everest. This steep ascent is tough due to the thin air, but the sunrise views make it worthwhile. From the summit, you see Everest, Nuptse, Changtse, and the Khumbu Glacier below. After enjoying the moment, descend back to Gorakshep for breakfast, then head downhill to Pheriche (4,371 m). As the air thickens, your energy returns, and the walk becomes easier. You may spot more wildlife and see greener slopes again. The luxury lodge in Pheriche provides a hot shower, fresh food, and a comfortable bed—a well-earned rest after the toughest part of your journey.
After a good rest, continue your return trek to Pangboche, passing peaceful forests and traditional Sherpa homes. After a night at a luxury lodge in Pangboche, you retrace your steps to Namche Bazaar. On the way, you’ll again enjoy snowy mountain views, cheerful locals, and colorful villages. At Namche, your final stay in this mountain hub includes a comfortable room, delicious food, and a time to relax and reflect on your journey.
The last part of the trek takes you downhill to Lukla, passing Monjo, Phakding, and lively river valleys. The path is easier now, giving you more chances to enjoy the scenery and chat with fellow trekkers. In Lukla, you spend one final night in a cozy lodge and celebrate the end of your journey. The next morning, a scenic flight returns you to Kathmandu, where your Luxury Everest Base Camp Trek concludes. This trek offers a perfect mix of natural beauty, cultural experience, and top-notch comfort, creating an unforgettable Himalayan adventure.

In October 2024, I, Carlos Eduardo Lima, along with six of my friends, embarked on the Everest Base Camp trek in Nepal. We found Safe Holiday Adventure through social media, and we were lucky to connect with Mr. Santosh Gauli, the tour manager, who organized everything for us, especially our Lukla flights and return. Thanks to his careful management, we completed the trek without any problems.
We had a total of 15 days, but with just 11 nights and 12 days, we made it from Kathmandu to Everest Base Camp. After flying to Lukla from Ramechhap Airport, we were introduced to our guide, Sonam, and our wonderful porters—Prem, Dhana, and Bimal. They were not only skilled but also incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the trek. Their kindness made our journey truly magical.
The services provided by Safe Holiday Adventure were exceptional, including luxury hotels, flights to Lukla, and everything we needed for the trek—all for a very reasonable price of $1,150.
We are incredibly grateful to Safe Holiday Adventure and Mr. Gauli for their wonderful management and attention to detail. Thank you for making our dream trek to Everest Base Camp such a memorable experience!

To reach Lukla, you first drive from Kathmandu to Ramechhap (Manthali Airport), which takes about 4 to 5 hours by private vehicle. From there, you take a short 20-minute mountain flight to Lukla. This is the most common way during the busy trekking seasons (spring and autumn) as flights from Kathmandu are limited due to air traffic and weather.
The total baggage allowance for Lukla flights is 15 kg per person (10 kg checked + 5 kg hand carry). If you carry more, you’ll be charged USD 1–2 per extra kg. It’s best to pack light and leave any unnecessary items in a hotel in Kathmandu.
On a luxury trek, you will stay in premium lodges with private twin-sharing rooms, thick blankets, soft pillows, and attached bathrooms (up to Pangboche). Lodges like Yeti Mountain Home or Everest Summit Lodge offer excellent comfort, clean rooms, and hot showers. Above Dingboche, rooms are still cozy but shared bathrooms are more common.
Your guide is trained in altitude sickness management and carries basic first aid. If symptoms become serious (like AMS), we can provide oxygen, call in a helicopter, or help you descend immediately. You’re in safe hands, and we always prioritize your health.
Most tea houses and luxury lodges provide electricity through solar panels or local hydro power. You can charge phones, cameras, and batteries, but charging may cost extra at higher altitudes. In luxury packages, charging is often included in the room.
Most lodges use Type C (European round pin) or Type D (Indian round pin) outlets. Bring a universal adapter to stay prepared for all plug types.
Luxury lodges offer a variety of clean, fresh meals such as Dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, vegetables), pasta, fried rice, soups, pizza, toast, and more. You’ll also find snacks, tea, coffee, and even bakery items in some areas like Namche and Dingboche.
Stick to high-energy, easy-to-digest foods like boiled potatoes, noodles, vegetable soup, porridge, eggs, and garlic soup (helps with altitude). Avoid red meat and alcohol at higher altitudes as they can slow digestion and worsen altitude sickness.
One porter can carry up to 20–25 kg, usually for two trekkers. This includes your main duffel bags. Please carry only necessary items and keep valuables in your daypack. Treat porters respectfully—they are the heart of your trek.
A standard trek includes basic tea houses, shared toilets, and limited meal options. In contrast, a luxury trek includes better lodging, attached bathrooms, hot showers, delicious meals, and a helicopter return—ideal for comfort seekers or travelers with limited time.
Some trekkers start taking Diamox (acetazolamide) from Namche Bazaar as a preventive measure. Others take it only when symptoms appear. It’s best to follow your doctor’s advice or listen to your experienced guide, who will monitor your health daily.
No tent is needed. You will sleep in comfortable tea houses or luxury lodges throughout the trek. All accommodations are indoors with real beds, blankets, and food service.
Luxury packages often include access to emergency oxygen. Some lodges above 4,000m also store oxygen cylinders. In emergencies, your guide can arrange a quick helicopter evacuation with our support.
Helicopters flying from Gorakshep to Lukla usually carry 3 passengers due to weight limits at high altitude. The views are amazing, and this option saves 3 days of downhill walking.
The best seasons are March to May and September to November. During these months, you get clear skies, stable weather, and comfortable temperatures, ideal for helicopter flights and scenic views.
In luxury lodges, you get attached bathrooms with running water and hot showers (gas or solar). Above 4,400m (after Dingboche), showers and toilets are more basic, but still clean and safe.
With trained guides, planned acclimatization, and emergency support, your trek is very safe. We monitor your health daily and arrange immediate help if needed.
We recommend using boiled water or purified water provided by the lodges. You can also carry chlorine drops or water purification tablets. Luxury treks often include safe drinking water in the package.
Yes, Thamel (Kathmandu) has many shops selling or renting jackets, poles, sleeping bags, and other trekking gear at good prices.
You’ll get a local SIM card with limited coverage. Namche and some higher villages offer Wi-Fi, but it may be slow. Luxury lodges provide better internet, sometimes included in the package.
Here are some globally recommended travel insurance companies that are well-known for covering high-altitude trekking, including the Everest Base Camp Trek in Nepal (up to 6,000 meters). These companies offer emergency medical coverage, trip cancellation, and helicopter evacuation, which are essential for EBC trekking.
