5-day Everest View Trek

Day 1: Kathmandu to Lukla (30-minute flight), trek to Phakding (4 hrs.)

The adventure begins with a scenic 30-minute flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, offering stunning views of the Himalayas. After landing at Lukla’s Tenzing-Hillary Airport (9,383 ft./2,850m), the trek to Phakding commences. The trail leads through picturesque landscapes, crossing suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River and passing charming Sherpa villages. The trek covers a distance of approximately 5.6 miles (9 km) and takes around 4 hours to reach Phakding, situated at an altitude of 8,563 ft. / 2,610m. This first day allows trekkers to acclimatize gradually and enjoy the serene surroundings of the Everest region.

After a delightful breakfast, we embark on Day 2 of the Everest View Trek. The initial hour of our journey along the Dudh Koshi River is picturesque, crossing suspension bridges and passing through Sherpa villages like Toktok, Banker, and Manjo. A short 30-minute walk from Phakding takes us to Manjo, where we complete the permit check for Sagarmatha National Park.

We continue our adventure with an easy descent to Jorsalle-2850m, where we relish a hearty lunch. Afterward, we follow the river for 40 minutes, reaching the famous Hillary Bridge. Crossing it, we begin a challenging uphill ascent through alpine forests, surrounded by mesmerizing Himalayan vistas.

Finally, we arrive at Namche Bazaar (11,315 ft. / 3,450m), a vibrant town blending Sherpa culture with modern amenities. The evening invites us to explore the lively markets and enjoy the local hospitality. A day filled with awe-inspiring landscapes, cultural encounters, and exciting experiences on our Everest View Trek.

Day 3:Trek to Khumjung Village(12,401 ft. / 3,780m) & Hotel Everest View(12,740 ft. / 3,880m), return to Namche Bazaar (4-5 hrs.)Distance: 6.2 miles / 10 km (round trip from Namche Bazaar)

Today’s journey takes us from Namche Bazaar to the charming Khumjung Village and the iconic Hotel Everest View before returning to Namche Bazaar. The trek offers an enriching experience of cultural immersion and stunning mountain panoramas.

Starting from Namche Bazaar, we trek along well-defined trails, surrounded by the towering peaks of the Everest region. As we ascend, we encounter prayer flags fluttering in the breeze and Chortens (Buddhist shrines) that add spiritual significance to the landscape.

After approximately 2-3 hours of trekking, we reach Khumjung Village. This traditional Sherpa settlement offers a glimpse into the local way of life. We visit the Khumjung School, founded by Sir Edmund Hillary, and the Khumjung Monastery that houses the scalp purportedly belonging to a Yeti.

Leaving Khumjung, we head towards the Hotel Everest View, renowned for its spectacular views of Everest and its neighboring peaks. Perched at about 13,000 feet (3,962 meters), the hotel provides a unique vantage point to witness the majesty of the Himalayas. Here, we savor a delicious lunch amidst the breathtaking mountain scenery.

After staying at Hotel Everest View hotel shortly, we’ll return to Namche Bazaar. On the way back, we can see more of the scenery and maybe see animals like the Himalayan Thar or the rare snow leopard.

Arriving back in Namche Bazaar-3450m, we can explore the town further, interact with the locals, and indulge in souvenir shopping. The vibrant atmosphere and warm hospitality at Namche make it an ideal place to unwind and celebrate the successful completion of another remarkable day on the Everest View Trek.

Day 4: Trek to Lukla(9,383 ft. / 2,850m) (6-7 hrs.)Distance: 7.5 miles / 12 km

The trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla offers a picturesque journey through the heart of the Everest region, taking around 6-7 hours to cover a distance of approximately 7.5 miles (12 km). The trail weaves through charming Sherpa villages, lush rhododendron forests, and sturdy suspension bridges over roaring rivers. Flying from Lukla to Kathmandu is a thrilling 30-minute adventure offering breathtaking views of the Himalayan landscapes. Lukla, at 9,380 ft. (2,860m), serves as a gateway to Everest. Boarding a small aircraft in the morning, and fly to Kathmandu or Ramechhap Airport than a short drive to Kathmandu.
