There are many illusion about Everest base camp trek for travelers that Everest base camp is the hardest trek ever, it is just steep walking, the temperature is very cold, lodges are not so good insulated …..blah blah type of illusion that I heard but I would say these all are the wrong message as I have done this trek more than 50 times and I know the fact about this trek thus, if you have dream to make Everest base camp trek and Kalapathar-13 days then you just make simple exercise for about 2 weeks before you travel to Nepal and you just be positive, eat fresh veg food, take some medicine with you in case if you get mountain sickness or other any problem, be with professional guide and travel agency then you will complete it without any problem.

The landscape of Everest base camp trekking path consists of flat trail and Hills mostly. The trekking path will be mostly going uphill  & downhill, Therefore if you follow the general itinerary provided by travel agency then you will have enough time to acclimatize for this trek.

What are the best months to trek in Everest region?

The best months to trek in Everest region is in September, October, November ( winter season) and March, April, may. if you wish to avoid the overcrowd then still you can make a trek in Everest region in monsoon though because there will be very light rain some time that means still you can enjoy the view and easy to get accommodation, foods and the trail will be very quiet.

What are the meals during Everest base camp trekking?

During Everest base camp trekking you will get quite some different food as they have also a menu where you can choose your foods, but basically, Nepali food, Indian food, Italian food, and Tibetan foods are available in every tea houses/Lodge. If your trekking is package base trek then your guide will suggest you what to eat and what not to eat for your health which is easy for you. the most common foods are pasta, fried potato with eggs, fried noodles, plain rice and curry, Dhal Bhat, Tibetan Bread, Pizza, set Breakfast etc.

Is there any age limits for Everest base camp trekking?

There is no age limitation for EBC trekking generally, but we suggest you be a fit and good shape that helps you a lot to complete this trek. The only thing is that your guide and local porter need to walk with you and also yourself you have to be positive than you can make it. If you have any disease such as heart, lungs, asthma disease then you better to consult with your doctor before you fly to Nepal or if you are already in Nepal you can talk to your travel agency they will help you and suggest you.

What kind of services do I get during Everest base camp trekking?

Yes, Definitely you will get Bathroom/ Toilet facilities during EBC trekking but most of the Toilets are squat toilet but since few years there are some new buildings where you can use western toilet too but all your toiletries have to be carried by yourself as they never serve you toiletries because of so many tourist and sharing toilets in most of the lodges. The local people will be upset if you pie near the villages or along the trail so we suggest you to make pie either in the Jungle or find toilet along the way which is respectful and polite.

Is insurance very important for Everest base camp trekking?

There are two different types of insurance that you have to buy… medical and evacuation insurance both of them are Important. There are many trekkers they just buy insurance according to the travel duration in Nepal but they never ask that insurance will cover evacuation from the mountain or not, so we suggest you buy insurance which will cover until 5500 meters high if you are heading to Everest Region.
