Langtang valley trek introductions:

The Langtang valley trek is spectacular exotic adventure trip in Langtang region. It is a short trek and moderate trekking in the valley of wise Langtang mountain panorama.

This beautiful one week holiday hiking passes through Langtang national park, heavenly made high and huge landscapes, farming local fields, rivers flora and faunas regarding yak pastures. It is also a popular region for yak cheese.

It is completely diverse trekking route provides you the glorious Himalayan panorama and also introduces the Buddhist culture along Tamang and Sherpa community. This area is mainly dominated by Tamang and Sherpa ethnicity.

3 days easy hiking from Syapru besi, the trail take us to kyanjin Gompa, as it is an old historical Monastery in this region. Kynagin Gompa is a last tea house settlement of this short trek. If you hike few hours from kyanji Gompa to Tserkori, you will see just unbelievable pristine mountains including Dorje Lakpa(6,990 m), Langtang, Langtang Ri (6370 m) and Langtang Lirung(7245 m)

Langtang valley itself is unique and not really comparable with other trekking trails in Nepal, it is for those trekkers who want to trek in the less touristy area through the tranquil forest. Langtang valley trek itinerary:

Day 01: Arrive in Kathmandu (1,350 m/4,428 ft)

Day 02: Kathmandu city tour and trek preparation

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi via Dhunche (1,550 m/5,100 ft): 7-8 hours

Day 04: Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2,380 m/7,830 ft): 6 hours

Day 05: Trek to Mundu (3543 m/11,621 ft) via Langtang village: 6 -7 hours

Day 06: Mundu to Kyangjin Gompa (3,870 m/12,697 ft): 4-5 hours

Day 07: Acclimatization- Explore Tserko Ri (5000 m/16,404 ft) 7-8 hours

Day 08: Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel: 6-7 hours

Day 09: Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi: 4-5 hours

Day 10: Syabrubesi to Kathmandu

Langtang Valley Trek Best Season

In general, Langtang valley trek best season is Spring and Autumn regarding the safety, weather, temperature and visibility. It is also possible to do all year but if you wish to see the high mountains and crystal clear sky then you are recommended to trek in spring and autumn season.

Spring season:

Spring season covers mainly 3 months – March, April & May.

Spring season is a 2nd greatest season for trekking and hiking in Nepal. In this season the greenery just begins to grow makes the route truly scenic and picturesque. For those, who wish to explore the nature with various plants, flowers, sounds of many different birds, spring season in Nepal is the best time to visit.

Like wise, the temperature and weather are other major things while you are trekking, that has to be good and safe. Temperature in Spring season is the best for trekking and hiking because with your light jacket and normal cloth you can handle it. the landscapes around Langtang region is very high and deep gorge at some sort of area there for trekking in Langtang region in monsoon is dangerous

Autumn season:

Autumn season covers mainly 3 months- September- October & November

Autumn season is a 100 percent wonderful season especially for hikers and trekkers. Each and every day especially in the morning the Sky, Mountains and Landscapes will be always clear which means the visibility on wards mountain is just unbelievable.

Autumn season is recently after the summer and the chances of rain is almost zero, the greenery landscapes, hills and valley, festival time all over Nepal, clear day, thundering waterfall view and rivers got enough water, which is good for photographer and Viewer. There is thousands of people visit Nepal in Autumn because they are here to trek and Langtang trek is one of them.

Lanagtang trekking permit price:

The price of Langtang valley trek was 20 $ Few years ago but the recent price for Langtang national park permit is $ 30 US per person.

It is compulsory to have Trekking permit entering Langtang national park otherwise you are illegal and you may get arrested from Nepali police or Locals from that area, therefore you should make it with your original passport and pp size photograph (2 each)

If you have time you can buy Langtang permit in Kathmandu at Nepal Tourism board (NTB) if you are shot on time you can still buy it at Dhuche before reaching Syapru besi. noted that your passport & PP size photographs are required.

  • Permit cost: 30 USD per person
  • TIMS Card cost: USD 20 per person (Individual Trekkers’)
  • TIMS Card cost : USD 10 per person (Through Trekking Agency)

Langtang valley trek altitude:

Langtang trekking is a short and moderate style trekking in Langtang region to the North east of Nepal. The maximum altitude of Langtang valley stands at 5033 m. It is where; you can enjoy the 360 degree Langtang mountain panorama view and view of lush valley and verdant pine forest.

This short trek begins from the Syaprubesi which is just 1550 m, than trek continues on wards to Langtang valley and the altitude rise up accordingly.

If you are simply fit, this trek does not give you any problems as it begins from low altitude at 1550. The average walking hours a day will be about 4 to 7 hours.

If we follow the itinerary, fresh good meals, enough drinking and slow pace while you are walking then there is no risk of altitude mountain sickness.

Important trekking gears for Langtang trek:

If you are trekking or hiking in the mountains you have to be assured that your gears are enough or not. During your trek in to the Langtang valley, you have to take also essential equipment that will helps your trek to complete without any problems.

Foods and Accommodations:

Trekking in the high altitude area for many hours of the day, you born lots calories and loose the energy so that on time you should take foods during the trek

Langtang valley trek is fully tea house base trekking route where you can find many tea house and local inn along trails.

Trekking to Langtang valley is quite remote area, which means supplying the goods onward Langtang and Kyanjin Gompa is not easy. The main way of supplying foods is carrying by porters hence, the meat item dishes are probably not safe to eat rather than eating vegetable dishes. However, if you really want to eat meat item foods you are suggested to have at the beginning at Syaprubesi and at the end of your trek also at Syprubesi, where they use refrigerator otherwise for few days you can have fresh vegetable foods for your safety.

There is place where they make fresh chees from the yak at Kyangin and at Sing Gompa, you are recommended to try.

In this trek you will get the following items of foods at each tea houses and Lodges:

  • In the morning by Breakfast time:  chapatti with jam/honey, Tibetan Bread, Toast, Hash brown potato, eggs of any style, porridge, pancake, instant noodle shop with veg, fruits etc.
  • In the afternoon by Lunch & Dinner time:  Spaghetti, Friend Noodles, Fried rice, Thukpa (noodle with soup) Nepali Dhal Bhat, Pizza, Fried Potato, Spring Rolls, Macaroni, etc.

Price of foods in Langtang trek, relatively cheaper than other trekking regions in Nepal.  The average price of food cost 4 to 7 US per meal.

The accommodations in this trek will be moderate standard of Lodge. You will be staying in small lodges, where they also provide foods, Wi-Fi, hot shower, battery charge and drinks.

The lodges are simple got normal beds on twin sharing basis. You will have private rooms with enough space, clean, bright and comfortable, but only your bathroom will be outside sharing with other trekkers who are staying at same lodge.

They might charge small amount of money for charging the battery, phone, and also using WiFi and how shower.

The price of accommodation during Langtang trek is about 3 to 10 USD for twin basis sharing room.

Langtang trekking is a short moderate category trek. it also relatively cheap and easy trek but still you have to manage the budget wow much to spent and the limitations.

There are many ways to spent money but before heading to Langtang trek you have to note all where you have to pay and what not to pay, like that you will do this trek without any problem. In this trekking region there is no place to withdraw money and no place to change the money.
