Everest base camp (EBC) trek starts from Lukla (2, 860 m) after 30 minutes short flight from Kathmandu over the Himalaya. This trek starts and ends both at Lukla. It is about two weeks hiking holiday in the Himalayas of Nepal.

After reaching Lukla, we manage all our staff and baggage then we trek to Phakding (2,660 m).

The trekking route from Lukla to Phakding is not so difficult. It is about 8 km of Gradual descent throughout several Sherpa villages, bridges, streams, and Crystal Clear Dudh Koshi River.

From Phakding, we trek up to Beautiful Namche Bazaar (3,450 m), as it is a hub land of the Khumbu region. However, the trails on two days lead us through the Dudh Koshi river valley passes abundances small restaurants, lodges, and Buddhist Chorten. The route of the trek from Phakding until the Manjovillage (2,850 m) is simply the best. We enter our permit here at Sagarmatha National park.

After the check-in permit, we have a short walk to Jorsalle (2,740 m). We eat here. After the route that followed the Dudh Koshi River starts ascent after crossing several bridges, then we reach Namche.

At Namche Bazaar, because of the raise altitude would be great to spend the extra night for Acclimatization by walking around the nearer hill station. Your few hours of walk to Khumjung (3,790 m), Everest view hotel, Thame, Thamo are good options for sight-walk.

After leaving Beautiful Namche, the route follows Imja Khola with a view of the Everest Himalaya terrain. Several high mountains are dominating the horizon ahead example Ama-Dablam (6,812 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Mt. Everest (8,848 m), and Nuptse (7,861 m). It is the unrivaled and the Biggest monastery of the Khumbu region.

Our EBC trek continues following the Imja valley from Tengboche, following the trails take us slowly uphill via Pangboche (4,000 m) hill till we reach Pheriche (4,371 m) through Somarevillage. Another day, we trek straight to Lobuche and pass some memorials of world-famous mountaineers. Our 4 to 5 hours of ascents take us to Lobuche. It sits on the sideways moraine of giant Khumbu Glacier.

As an option instead of Pheriche, some trekkers prefer to spend two nights at Dingboche (4,4100 m). However, if you have enough time two nights stay is recommended.

For the next 3 hours of walk through the rocky moraine, we reach Gorakshep (5,180 m). It is the last settlement of the Everest base camp trek (5,364 m). We spent a night thereafter visiting Everest base camp.

What food to expect in the Guest House/Lodges?

As the standard of Lodges/ Guest Houses has improved During the EBC trek, the quality of food has improved too since a few years. During our Everest base camp trips, each Guesthouse and lodges provide us food through the menu. The quality of food is moderate because in high season (October, November & March-April), there are hundreds of people in Everest trek, As well as it is a remote area trek in Nepal too.

Guest and Lodge focus on Quantity-Quick service, not the quality, that is a kind of obligation of them because there are almost 50 to 80 guests each day in peak season.

However, the locals serve you food tone by tone as per your choice of food. On the Everest base camp trek, there are some choices of food as it is more than enough for a 12-day hike in the Himalayas.

Breakfast: Set breakfast (Bread, fried Potato, tea/coffee, Porridge, Omelet), Instant Noodle soup, Tibetan bread, Korean soup, pancake, Tea Coffee, Boiled eggs, etc.

Lunch & Dinner: Fried Rice/Noodles, Dhal-Bhat set (Local Food), Momo, Pizza, Pasta, Tea, Snacks, Apple pie, Potato item foods, soup, Cold beverage.

During your EBC trek, there are plenty of local restaurants and a small store where they serve food from early morning 5 am to 8 Pm. You have to choose the name of the food, they serve very quickly.

Next, some Lodges serve some adjoin food items as a special dish such as Yak steak, beef steak, chicken sizzler, or any meat item, these are not advisable because some lodges don’t use freeze and keep meats for a long time which is no good the sensitive stomach. It does not mean that you can’t eat meat at all, of course, you can, in general, Namche or below Namche, you can eat meat, you may get safe and fresh meat over there relatively.

When should I go to the Everest base camp trek in Nepal?

The best trekking time to Everest base camp in Nepal is when Weather and Temperature are Normal, as it is autumn and spring season.
If you are an adventure traveler, you can try the Everest base camp trek any Month or any season in a year. But in the Everest trekking, the weather is never sure- unpredictable, so that you recommended making the EBC trek in spring and autumn.

It is a moderate to difficult venture in the high Himalayas of Nepal. The best time for Everest base camp and Kalpathar trips is in autumn (Sep- Nov) and spring (March-May) season because comparatively in the spring and autumn seasons, you can have mild weather and temperature. The skies are blue, stunning views of the mountain, Mild Temperature, Green Scenic views, flowers blooming, no risk of heavy snow or rain so, from every single prospective trekking to Everest base camp during autumn and spring are the best.

If you did not enable to manage your Everest base camp trek during the autumn season, then you are recommended to visit in the spring season. It is 2nd best trekking time in Nepal.

They care about your accommodation, food, the right path, locality, culture thing, however, having a guide to Everest base camp never makes you regret but will more meaningful journey in the Himalaya.

What is an average day walk in Everest base camp trek?

The Everest base camp trekking is a high altitude area trek that means you are highly recommended to walk at your own pace for your safety. However, in Nepal because of the geographical features, we basically measure the distance in Hour systems which is about 4 to 7 hours a day it depends how high are we hiking each day that differs the walking hours, for example, the first day of EBC trek we just walk Lukla to Phakding which is 8 km and takes 3 hours and the 2nd-day steep walk up to Namche is longer walk takes 6 hours and 11 km to walk, therefore the hour systems seems more reliable in the mountain.

Well, if you are simply fit and have regular exercise, then you can make Everest base camp trekking easily, but noted that your pace needs to be very slow. We also recommend you do some jogging for a few weeks before you come for an EBC trek that will help you a lot for not having altitude sickness.

What type of insurance do I have to buy for traveling to Nepal? Can I buy it there?

Insurance is a most important document for Everest base camp trek as it is high area trek, however, In this trek, you might get high altitude sickness so you should buy your insurance which covers until 5550 meter high, you have to be assured about this before you trek to Everest base camp trek and the insurance in Nepal does not sale insurance for travelers due to some reasons so you have to buy from your country or out of Nepal.

We have qualified trekking guide who has got government license that means our guide who will guide to EBC will be professional and he will communicate with us in Kathmandu if in case if you are sick then if you are still able to get on the horse we suggest you, go down if that is not possible at all or you are getting worse then you have to fly back by chopper but no worries we immediately contract to your insurance company once they are confirmed that you are sick then we recently sent emergency helicopter service who will pick you up from mountain to The Kathmandu hospital then you are safe after that the further caring thing and documentation we will manage for you assured that your insurance company going to pay all your expenses for this sickness.

Food & Drinking water in Everest base camp Trek:

In Everest base camp trekking most of the lodges and tea houses have a proper menu for Food. Common foods are Flour made food and cereals, but besides that still, you can have Italian foods, Chinese foods, Tibetan foods, Indian foods, and Nepali foods. On the Everest region trek, most of the foods are cooked by professional cooked but don’t expect the quality of a city restaurant but it is still good and enough. You will get 3 times meal a day if you are picking a packaged trekking which is provided by your agency or agent.

In the Everest region drinking water is quite expensive if you buy in a bottle (Mineral Water), that’s like 2 to 4 $ Per Liter So if you are budget travelers you can have normal water from the tap, river, storage drum, but they are not so fired for every trekker as it is not so clean but still, you can use Iodine tablets, or liquid to make it clean. The other option is to buy boiled water which is slightly cheaper than Mineral water. We suggest you buy mineral water for your safety you have a sensitive stomach.

Accommodation during Everest base camp trek:

The Accommodation during Everest base camp trek basically twin basis in a small room without bathroom.
