How can we go to Mardi Himal Trek?

Mardi Himal trek is Nearby Pokhara than Kathmandu but you can organize your trip from Kathmandu for your simplicity. You can take a bus, jeep, or plane from Kathmandu to Pokhara, then from Pokhara, you can drive to Kande or to Phedi or to Nayapul then you can start your trek. there are several entry points for the Mardi Himal trek. if you have a very tight itinerary(5 days) you can start your trek from Kande, if you have about 12 days time you can start your trek from Nayapul, likewise, if you have about a week time you can start your Mardi Himal trek from Phedi.

Mardi Himal trek for Nepal will be cheaper than other nationalities, because other people eat western foods, use private luxury transport, a luxury hotel in the city that’s why cost bit more but for Nepali people, we skip almost all these services, the fact is that Nepali people don’t mind to share rooms in the city or in the Mountains, plus they eat Local food almost every day, that means they can make this trip with small money. However, per day for 3 times meals cost 1500 to 2000 NPR. If you want us to organize your trek for 4 days in Mardi Himal then you can pay us 15,000 per person and that includes all your food, transport, hotel in Pokhara, local transport, and one guide of it.

What is the highest point you will reach in the Mardi Himal Trek?

Well, The Mardi Himal trek route begins generally from Kande which is 1275 m then the trek takes you straight up to Mardi Himal View pointy within a few days. However, the highest point you reach at 4500 m, which is Mardi Himal Base camp but it is not safe when there is ice or thinks snow that is why almost 90% of trekkers hike until Mardi Himal viewpoint which is 4250 meters.

When is the best time Month to trek in Mardi Himal?

Well, the Mardi Himal trek can be done all months of the year but the Best months are September, October, and November. These 3 different months fall during the Autumn season in Nepal which is post-monsoon time so it offers a clear blue sky, incredible mountain views, and Green Sceneries. If you are not able to make your trek in these 3 months then no worries you have the Spring season (March, April, and May). Can I drink running water or normal water from the tap in Mardi Himal trails?

Well, the local tap water or running water is not recommended, because your stomach is not used to it. Most westerners have a sensitive stomach compared to Asian so, you have to put water purification tablets or filter water. Although At Badal Danda and High camp does not have really running pipe water, they have stored water in a big tank which is not safe to drink. Mineral water and boiled water are safe drinking water as is recommended.

Can we Charge our electrical devices during the Mardi Himal Trek?

Yes, Very big yes…. you can Charge your electrical devices at Every settlement except High camp. Although, at High camp, you can charge from the solar battery which is payable. They will charge some money to charge your electrical devices.

Do they serve a hot shower and wifi?

Yes, during the Mardi Himal trek, you can enjoy a hot shower mostly a gas Giger shower. You can’t have a private shower in your own room but there will be a shower in the lodge you stay in. Similarly, nowadays, you can have wifi services but you have to pay a small money to use them.

Is there a tented camp or tea House in Mardi Himal trails?

Mardi Himal trek is a tea house base trek now. Before 2012 there was camp base trekking but now every settlement there are several Tea Houses and lodges. You don’t need to carry a Tent for the Mardi Himal trek, but if you prefer to sleep in the tent then you can fix your tent near the tea house and eat in the Tea House. Staying in the lodge is much warmer than staying in a tent.

What sort of temperature should I expect in Mardi Himal Trek?

Mardi Himal Trek is not so cold trekking route but if you trek during December or January the temperature will be quite cold. You will have about -8 to -10 But in other months the temperature will be mild. In general, during the day the temperature reaches up to 20-degree centigrade and during the Night the temperature drops down to -4, -5-degree centigrade

What kind of trekking gear do we need for the Mardi Himal Trek?

Mardi Himal trek is a newly opened trail that goes through the verdant forest and wilderness so you can not buy trekking gear or any clothes while trekking, therefore, you should be well prepared from Kathmandu or Pokhara. However, you don’t need proper trek gear for this trek. If you have pair of T-shirts, Trekking shoes(Normal shoes will be fine), sun hat or cap, Sunglass, trekking paint, pair of Sucks, headlamp, Normal Gloves, down jacket, sunblock cream, general medicine, water bottle, sandal, books, etc. than you can do this trek easily.

Can I trek to Mardi Himal by myself?

Well, it is an easy trial, thus you can do it yourself but in some cases, you may get problems. There are some wild yaks you may see and also wild leopards they may attract you this is why you should walk with a group, or take guide/porters with you for your safety. Next, you should trek in the right month September to November, or march to May. If you trek during monsoon or in winter, there will be few people only on the trails, and risk of landslides, avalanches, etc. especially Mardi Himal base camp is the most dangerous part of this trek so you have to take good care.

Can we trek to Mardi Himal with my family and kids?

Yes, you can trek to Mardi Himal with your family and kids. It is an easy path to trek, you will have a well-insulated room, warm food, a hot shower, Wi-Fi, and a caring local guide so what else do you need more. Of course, you can trek with your kids to Mardi Himal. Taking students or small kids to this area is a beautiful way to introduce them to the various wilderness, such as snow-covered Mountains, flowers, streams, wild animals, landscapes, gorges, etc. I think for kids and students Mardi Himal trek will be the research spot too besides trekking and walking.

How to go to Kande from Pokhara and from Siding village to Pokhara?

Well, from Pokhara you have two different choices either private vehicles or public Buses. Taking a private car, jeep, and taxis costs more than taking the bus. If you take a Car from Pokhara to Kande that will cost about 2,000 NPR (20US), Jeep 3000 NPR (30 US). if you prefer a bus from Pokhara to Kande then you have to catch a taxi from Pokhara Hotel to a Zero kilo or Baglung Bus park from where you can get a public bus and cost 150 NPR about. Even by foot from lakeside Pokhara to zero Kilo is about a 20-minute walk.

If you have booked your trek through a travel agency then they will provide private transport directly from Pokhara Hotel to Kande similarly from the Siding Village to Pokhara. Noted that, from the Siding village to Pokhara, there is no public bus which means you have to hire a private jeep.

Is there money exchange, ATM machine, etc. on the trek?

No, there is no Atm or place to change money; you should carry enough Nepali money from Pokhara. In Pokhara, there are all services to get money.

Yes, charging facilities will be available in every guesthouse & lodge but sometimes there may be a load shedding problem so it’s better to bring a power bank or spare batteries.

What types of foods do they serve in the Mardi Himal area?

The Locals make almost all kinds of food but do not expect professional cooking like in the city or in your country. Although, you can have fresh food with local taste. The most popular food in Nepal is Dhal Bhat, which is known as Nepali National food. It serves rice, lentil soup, vegetable, curry, papadom, pickles, and green chilly. Every lodge on this trek will give you a menu and you can choose whichever food you like. They serve generally, momo (Dumpling food), fried Noodles, Fry Rice, Pasta, several soups, alcoholic and non-alcoholic Drinks, Pizza, sandwiches, burgers, chicken curry, local Gurung Bread, Chapati, Tea, coffee, etc.

Do I have to tip for Guide and Porters?

In Nepal, Tipping is not compulsory, but when locals work with tourists they expect some tips and it is a gesture of big thanks to your guide and porters. On another hand, the amount of tip you give to them reflects the level of their satisfaction, and their smiles that is why tip them when you complete your successful trek. it is expected.

If I save 3 or 4 days after the Mardi Himal trek, where shall I go?

After Mardi Himal, you may need a spare of days because you are tired after4 days of walking the Himalayas. so, you can visit Chitwan National park. It is a beautiful place to enjoy. In Chitwan, you will have the opportunity to observe Tharu cultural shows, elephant safari, Cannoying, visit the elephant breeding center, and wild animals, and stay in a peaceful hotel. I am sure you will have such a relaxing time in Chitwan Sauraha.
