Manaslu Trek 10 Days – Overview Overview
The Manaslu Trek 10 Days is a spectacular Himalayan adventure around Mount Manaslu (8,163 m), the world’s eighth-highest mountain. This journey takes you from the lower Budhi Gandaki Valley into the remote high Himalayas, combining dramatic mountain scenery, traditional villages, Buddhist culture, glaciers, waterfalls, forests, and the challenging Larkya La Pass (5,160 m). It is an excellent choice for travelers who want to experience the major highlights of the Manaslu region in a shorter timeframe while enjoying the support of an experienced local trekking team.
The adventure begins in the lower Manaslu region around Soti Khola (700 m) and Machha Khola (900 m), where the landscape is green, warm, and surrounded by steep hills and river valleys. As the trek continues toward Jagat (1,340 m), Deng (1,860 m), and Namrung (2,660 m), the scenery gradually changes from subtropical forests and rushing rivers to cooler mountain landscapes. Along the trail, you cross suspension bridges, pass waterfalls and narrow gorges, and walk through traditional settlements where you can experience the hospitality and everyday life of local mountain communities.
Higher in the region, the scenery becomes truly Himalayan. From Namrung (2,660 m) toward Lho (3,180 m) and Samagaun (3,530 m), you begin to enjoy magnificent views of Mount Manaslu (8,163 m) and surrounding peaks. The upper Nubri Valley is strongly influenced by Tibetan Buddhist culture, with ancient monasteries, prayer flags, chortens, mani walls, and traditional stone houses. Samagaun (3,530 m) is one of the most important villages of the trek and provides an ideal place to slow down, explore the local surroundings, and prepare your body for the higher elevations ahead.
One of the memorable experiences around Samagaun is the optional hike toward Birendra Lake (approximately 3,650 m), a beautiful glacial lake surrounded by high Himalayan peaks and glaciers. Depending on weather, fitness, and local conditions, trekkers may also explore viewpoints and the surrounding high valley. The journey then continues toward Samdo (3,860 m), a remote settlement close to the Tibetan border, before entering the stark alpine environment leading toward Dharamshala/Larkya Phedi (approximately 4,460 m). These higher sections are colder and more demanding, making gradual acclimatization and proper preparation especially important.
The greatest challenge and highlight of the trek is crossing Larkya La Pass (5,160 m), the highest point of the journey. The crossing involves a long day at high altitude, but the reward is extraordinary panoramic scenery, with views toward Himlung Himal (7,126 m), Cheo Himal (6,820 m), Kang Guru (6,981 m), Annapurna II (7,937 m), and the surrounding Himalayan ranges. From the pass, the trail descends toward Bhimtang (3,720 m), where the landscape opens into beautiful alpine meadows and mountain scenery. Because the pass-crossing day can be physically demanding, we strongly recommend an overnight at Dharamshala/Larkya Phedi (approximately 4,460 m) before attempting Larkya La whenever the schedule and conditions allow.
Our 10-day Manaslu Trek with Safe Holiday Adventure is designed for travelers who have limited time but do not want to miss the region’s most important experiences. We combine efficient transportation, experienced local guiding, carefully planned acclimatization, comfortable tea-house accommodation, and practical support throughout the trek. The shorter schedule requires good physical fitness and a willingness to walk long hours, particularly around the high-altitude sections. For travelers who prefer a slower pace, we can also recommend a longer version with additional acclimatization and rest time.
After reaching Bhimtang (3,720 m), the journey can be concluded with a chartered helicopter flight to Kathmandu, subject to weather and operational conditions. This avoids the long overland return journey and allows you to complete the Manaslu adventure efficiently. From the first views of the Budhi Gandaki Valley to the towering Mount Manaslu (8,163 m), remote Himalayan villages, Tibetan Buddhist heritage, glacial landscapes, and the unforgettable Larkya La Pass (5,160 m), this 10-day journey offers an impressive combination of culture, nature, adventure, and high-altitude Himalayan scenery.
Safe Holiday Adventure provides local experience, knowledgeable guides, trekking support, and flexible planning to help you enjoy the Manaslu region responsibly and safely. We monitor weather, trail, transportation, and altitude conditions throughout the journey and can adjust the plan when necessary. The Manaslu region is remote, so flexibility is an important part of the experience, but that remoteness is also what makes this trek one of Nepal’s most rewarding Himalayan adventures.
How Difficult Is the 10-Day Manaslu Trek?
The 10-Day Manaslu Trek is considered a moderate to challenging Himalayan trek, mainly because of its long walking days, changing terrain, and high altitude. The most demanding section is crossing Larke Pass at 5,160 m (16,929 ft), where cold temperatures, steep trails, snow, and thinner air can make the crossing physically challenging.
You do not need technical climbing skills, but good fitness, regular walking experience, and proper acclimatization are important. The trail includes rocky paths, suspension bridges, steep ascents and descents, and several days of walking at elevations above 3,000 m. Reaching Samagaun at 3,530 m and Dharamshala/Larkya Phedi at 4,460 m requires particular attention to altitude and pacing.
With gradual walking, enough rest, proper hydration, nutritious meals, and an experienced trekking guide, most physically fit trekkers can complete the 10-day Manaslu Trek successfully. Safe Holiday Adventure can also adjust the pace and itinerary when necessary to make the journey safer and more comfortable.
Is 10 Days Enough for the Manaslu Circuit Trek?
Yes, 10 days can be enough for the Manaslu Circuit Trek if you have good fitness, trekking experience, and a well-planned itinerary. A 10-day schedule can cover the main trail from Machha Khola (900 m) through Samagaun (3,530 m), across Larkya Pass (5,160 m), and down to Dharapani (1,960 m). However, the trek is demanding because of long walking days, high altitude, and steep terrain.
For a safer and more enjoyable 10-day Manaslu Circuit Trek, proper acclimatization, gradual altitude gain, experienced guides, and comfortable pacing are important. If you prefer shorter walking days or extra time for altitude adjustment and weather delays, adding 1–2 days is recommended.

What Permits Are Needed for the 10-Day Manaslu Trek?
The 10-Day Manaslu Trek requires a Manaslu Restricted Area Permit (RAP) because the route passes through a government-designated restricted area. Trekkers also need the Manaslu Conservation Area Permit (MCAP) and a TIMS Card. A licensed guide is required for the Manaslu Circuit under Nepal’s current trekking rules.
For the RAP, the current fee is USD 100 per person for the first 7 days from September to November, with an additional USD 15 per day afterward. From December to August, the first 7 days cost USD 75, followed by USD 10 per additional day. The Manaslu Conservation Area entry fee for foreign trekkers is currently NPR 3,000.
For a 10-day itinerary, your trekking agency normally arranges the required permits before you enter the Manaslu region.

Tea House Accommodation During Manaslu Circuit Trek:
Tea houses are the most common accommodation on the Manaslu Circuit Trek, offering a simple, comfortable place to rest after each day’s hike. Most provide twin-sharing rooms, beds, mattresses, blankets, and shared bathrooms.
As you reach higher and more remote villages, facilities become more basic. Warm common dining rooms are often the heart of the tea house, where trekkers can relax, eat, and enjoy the mountain atmosphere.
Best Time for the Short Manaslu Trek:
The best time for the Short Manaslu Trek is during spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). These months usually offer dry weather, clear skies, good mountain visibility, and comfortable conditions for trekking.
Spring is a beautiful time to trek in the Manaslu region, with blooming rhododendrons, fresh greenery, and pleasant daytime temperatures. Autumn is especially popular for its clear skies, stable weather, and excellent views of Mount Manaslu and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.
The winter months (December to February) can bring cold temperatures and snowfall at higher elevations, while the monsoon season (June to August) brings frequent rain, clouds, and possible landslides on access roads and trails. These conditions can make trekking more difficult.
For the best combination of weather, trail conditions, and mountain views, spring and autumn are the recommended seasons for the Short Manaslu Trek.
What Is the Weather Like on the 10-Day Manaslu Circuit Trek?
How Much Does the Manaslu Trek 10 Days Cost?
The 10-Day Manaslu Trek cost starts at US$850 per person for groups of 2–5 people. For groups of 5–10 trekkers, the price is US$825 per person.
If you are traveling with a larger group of 10 or more people, the cost drops to just US$799 per person, making it the best-value option for group trekkers.
The price can also vary depending on the trekking season, included services, and customized requirements.
Can Beginners Do Manaslu Trek 10 Days?
Yes, beginners can do the Manaslu Trek in 10 days if they have good fitness, proper preparation, and a positive mindset. However, this shorter itinerary is more demanding because of long walking days and high altitude, especially while crossing Larkya Pass at 5,160 meters.
Beginners should prepare with regular walking, hiking, and cardio exercises before the trek. A licensed guide, gradual acclimatization, proper hydration, and comfortable pacing make the journey safer and more enjoyable.

Is Guide Mandatory for Manaslu Trek?
Yes, a guide is mandatory for the Manaslu Trek because the region includes a restricted-area section where independent trekking is not permitted under the applicable rules. Trekkers must arrange the required Manaslu Restricted Area Permit through an authorized trekking agency and trek with a licensed guide. The rules also help authorities manage permits, verify trekking groups, and protect the sensitive mountain region.
A guide is also important for safety. The trail has remote sections, changing mountain weather, difficult terrain, limited medical facilities, and high-altitude areas including Larkya Pass (5,160 m). A good guide helps with route navigation, altitude acclimatization, weather decisions, emergency coordination, accommodation, and communication with local people, making the 10-day trek safer and more manageable.

The trail passes through lush rhododendron and pine forests, with spectacular views of Manaslu, Lamjung Himal, Himlung Himal, and other surrounding peaks. We continue through peaceful mountain settlements and follow the trail alongside the Dudh Khola and through the Marsyangdi Valley, enjoying waterfalls, forests, and traditional villages along the way.
