I had wanted to see Everest Base Camp for years, but I only had a short window. The 7-day itinerary sounded ambitious, and I was cautious about going up quickly. Safe Holiday Adventure made me feel at ease from the first call. Every step was explained clearly, from flights and permits to the daily plan and what to expect at altitude.
Our guide, Santosh, was the heart of the trip. He is calm, experienced and quietly watchful. Each morning he checked how we were feeling, tracked our oxygen levels, and reminded us to drink water and walk slowly. On a fast schedule, that attention matters. He also shared stories about Sherpa life, local traditions and the mountains around us, so the trek felt like a real cultural journey as well as a physical one.
Our porters, Raju and Prem, were wonderful. They carried heavy loads over steep trails and still found energy to smile, joke and look after the group. Because of them, we could walk with light daypacks and enjoy the views. Their kindness and strength are something I will not forget.
The group of five was a good size. We moved at a comfortable pace, and the team adjusted the schedule as needed. Teahouses were clean and warm, meals were hearty, and nothing felt rushed or poorly planned. Standing at Everest Base Camp with new friends, with the Khumbu Icefall in front of us, was a moment I will carry for life.
