The Mardi Himal Trekking is one of the most visited short, suit and low budget trekking path and it is recently discover trekking route. It is relatively easy and a best trails for up close Mountain views. This trek can be done by all kind of travelers as it has limit height, easy safe trail, verities of cultural experiences, bio diversities and many unbelievable landscapes.

We begin this trek from Pokhara having short drive to Phedi or kande than smooth gradual uphill walk to Australian camp similarly, Pothana, Deurali, forest camp, high camp, Mardi himal view point than back via culturally rich Siding Village. Duing this short trek we will also have many chances to see rare wild animals such as black bears, Longoor monkey, Deer, black bug so no.

Detail itinerary of Mardi himal trekking

Day 01: Arrival in Tribhuvan international airport Kathmandu.

On your arrival in Kathmandu we will manage private transport and a member from safe holiday adventure will pick up you and drop you to your Hotel. It is only 25 minute drive to your hotel (to be in center of Kathmandu). When you are checked in to the hotel we will give you some tip for your trip which is useful for you and assured before you leave for the trek. We will stay in Kathmandu Hotel.

Height of Kathmandu: 1350 m / 4429 ft

Day 02: Drive from Kathmandu to Phedi than trek to Dhampus via Pokhara.

We are leaving quite early this morning. We will have breakfast at Hotel than take Micro bus winch is faster than other buses that means about 12 noon we are already in pokhara than just next 30 minute drive to phedi from where we will have short walk to Dhampus.

Trekking to Dhampus is cultural trails where we will get chance to walk through the typical house, farming terrace field and some forest however, it is only 1.30 minute walk from Phedi to Dhampus. We will stay at Tea House in Dhampus.

Height of Dhampus: 1650 m/ 5413 ft

Day 03: Dhampus to Forest Camp

Our actual trek begins after Dhampus as it is already nice village situated on the top of mountain and paradise view of Many famous peaks that we can see today. We trek early morning after some breakfast at tea house following the natural path through village and small forest to Pothana which is higher than Dhampus where we have to entry our trekking permits we than continue walk uphill to Pitam deurali it is where we will have some rest and break for Fresh Lunch and enjoy the valley view of pokhara and wide range of mountains after that we walk in the forest and no one really house along the trail for next few hours than we reach a cozy small tea house area called Forest camp. We will get tea house accommodation and spent the night there.

Height of Forest camp: 2554 m / 8379 ft

Day 04: Forest Camp to High camp

After spending wonderful time at Forest camp tea house , our trek begins after breakfast again and follow the small rail through the forest which is very quiet and still unparalleled views of Annapurna, fishtail and many other mountains.

Today if we are lucky we may see some rare wild animals because the trail today will be very tranquil and forest itself is dense so that we have many chances to see wild animals such as Snow leopard, spotted deer, Mountain goat, Barking Deer and Black Bears.

The landscapes will be truly beautiful once we reach at the bottom of massif hill. The trees are fully covered by moss, ferns and lichen makes more beautiful. Trekking from low camp an hour further up takes us to already over treeline area than we will get unbelievable views of massif Annapurna south and Hiunchuli Montains. We trek continue up to Badal Danda which is like border of treeline and Alpine zone that means after passing Badal Danda we will be walking in to the alpine zone where we follow the grassland trail than we are there at High camp. It is beautiful small settlement from where we will easily explore the beauty of Himalayas.

Height of High camp: 3980 m/ 13057 ft

Total walk: 7 Hours

Day 05: High Camp to Mardi Himal base camp than back to High camp.

It is our major trekking day to explore the absolute high mountains. We will have already very close mountain views when we begin the day. The trail goes along the Ridge until Mardi Himal base camp but noted that some trails up to base camp is quite steep , rocky and dry.

Once we reach at Mardi Himal base camp the view will be just right above you especially Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Mountain. We will be staying at High camp tea house.

Height is Mardi Himal base camp: 4350 m/ 14271 ft.

Height of High camp: 3580 m/ 11745 ft.

Total Walking: 7 Hours

Day 06: High camp to Sidding village

Today is the day to see paradise sunrise view over the Himalayas and the enormous landscapes. We will have breakfast after sunrise view than descent to Forest camp by same trail because there is no other option yet than we change the direction following the forest to Beautiful Sidding village. It is where we will spend a night at tea house. It is a big cultural village, where we can see some cultural program by evening time from local guru mama club.

Day 07: Sidding village to Pokhara.

Height of Pokhara: 950 m / 3116 ft.

Today is our last day of this short trek that we will have early breakfast than take sharing transport Jeep we than drive to Pokhara. Once we arrive in Pokhara we may go for farewell dinner with field staff. Overnight stay at PoKhara  hotel.

Day 08: Drive to Kathmandu.

Today after heavy and complete breakfast we will get comfortable bus from Pokhara tourist bus station we than drive to Kathmandu.

It is located in Annapurna conservation area therefore you have to have 2 different permits:

Annapurna Conservation area entrance permit: you have to pay $30 US for permit and need two Passport size photograph per person

TIMS card: Trekking information management systems, it is required to buy for trekkers cost $ 10 per trekkers.

The permits are easily you get in Kathmandu and Pokhara both cities.

About foods and Accommodation during Mardi himal trek;

Mardi Himal trek is a tea house base trekking that means you will have private rooms, sharing bath rooms, foods and drinks.

During this trek wherever you stay in tea house the accommodation will be very similar and cost same also the food. They have shot of management committee who fix the price of food in each tea houses therefore the cost is same at every tea house in same area and they all serve you Quite some different foods such as Indian, Nepali, Italian and continental.

The accommodation will be private everyday but twin sharing beds in each rooms, in case if you need extra bed you can request to the owner. There is clean bed sheet, mattress, blanket, pillows and croutons on the widows in each room you stay during this trip.

Trekking equipment for Mardi himal trek:

If you are trekking to Mardi himal in spring you can take general cloths and also in Autumn out of those season you may need even warmer cloths and rain coats, however, the basic trekking equipment are as follows:

  • Trekking shoes, backpack and pair of socks
  • Warm down jacket and wind cheater,
  • Warm jumper and sweeter,
  • Wind proof trekking paints and shorts
  • Gloves, Sunglass, sun cream & walking sticks,
  • Camera,Phone , warm hat and p –cap
  • Toiletories things and Sandle,

Useful tips for Mardi himal trek trekkers:

  • Do not rush while you are walking,
  • Carry at least 3000 Nepali rupee per day for your extra expenses, if you have package trek if not carry at least 5000 NPR a day for your all expenses.
  • If you have time you can extant this trek,
  • Drink lots of water, at least 3 liters a day,
  • Drink hot tea and stay warm,
  • Take some medicine with you in case if you need it,
  • Respect the culture and always ask if you are taking picture of local people,
  • Don’t waste the food because all foods are human carried,
  • Try to stay vegetarian for few days because meat item foods are not fresh at each tea house,
  • If you have any uncomfortable talk to your guide,
  • Don’t bargain for food and accommodation as they fixed price in each tea house,
  • Feel like your fried with your guide and porter than they will share many information with you,
